Bet on the Winner of Strictly Come Dancing

Strictly Come Dancing started in 2004 and is aired in the UK on BBC One.

The TV show consists of couples who compete over the course of several weeks for the title of winner. Each couple is made up of a professional dancer and a celebrity.

How Is the Winner Chosen?

Every week, the four judges on the panel will give each dancing couple a score out of 10. This adds up on the leader board, and by the end of the night, it’s clear to see the judges’ favourites.

However, the public also plays a part in determining the winner. During designated times, the public viewers can make their telephone votes, which helps to secure the public’s favourites a place in the final.

After each week, one couple (the one with the least votes) is eliminated from the competition, leaving the last few standing for the final, and then eventually, just the winner.

Former Winners of Strictly Come Dancing

The first winner of Strictly Come Dancing was newsreader and presented Natasha Kaplinsky. Her professional dance partner for the series was Brendan Cole, and they competed against celebrities such as Lesley Garrett and David Dickinson.

Other winners have included Alesha Dixon, who went on to be a judge on the show, Harry Judd, member of boy band McFly, and Louis Smith, Olympic gymnast.

The most recent winner is Caroline Flack, a TV presenter and personality, who won the show last year dancing with Pasha Kovalev.

Who Could Win the Show This Year?

Although we don’t know exactly which celebrities will be competing in the 2015 series of Strictly Come Dancing, there are already a few rumours going around about certain potential competitors.

Paddy Power’s favourite is Dermot O’Leary, the presenter of popular TV show The X Factor until 2014. He has 6/1 odds, putting him in the top spot for winning this year.

It is rumoured that many producers of the show are backing Shane Ritchie, who could be making an appearance. The EastEnders actor and TV presenter has odds of 7/1, putting him just behind O’Leary.

Ben Shephard may also be entering the contest this year, and could very well take away the crown. It seems that this year might be full of TV presenters and personalities, since Shephard is a well-known presenter and journalist himself. Odds of 8/1 suggest that it’s very likely he will dance his way to the top spot during Strictly 2015.

Other celebrities who have made it to the list on Paddy Power include Vernon Kay, another TV presenter, with odds of 18/1, and Joe McElderry, former winner of The X Factor, with odds of 20/1.

Jeremy Clarkson, Katie Hopkins and Zayn Malik all have 40/1 odds, suggesting that they may not even enter the competition, let alone win it.
